Thomas Maos
thomas maos / electronic guitar
on my record "chill in drill out" I combine abstract and tonal elements. my work on that record is influenced by the sound aesthetics of noise, rock, minimal music and contemporary classical music. although I am educated a "normal guitarist", it is not important for me to sound like a proper guitar player. instead, the electric guitar is only a medium to express my musical ideas.
the electric guitar, as everybody knows, has endless sound variations. so, for my recordings it was very important to restrict myself to a few materials in every piece, and concentrate on them while elaborating the composition.
all pieces were recorded live. with the exception of two titles (nr. 10, 13 ) I used no overdubs.
strange, but a lot of contemporary dancers like my record an use it for dance pieces.
I hope you enjoy these tracks.
send me a mail, and let me know what you think of it.
